Ulysses Hargrove, 86, was born on March 27, 1939 in Eatonton, Georgia to the late Henry Hargrove and Ruth Walker Hargrove. Peacefully, he departed this life on the morning of Thursday, March 12, 2025. The family will greet friends at 11:00AM, Friday, March 20, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park for a celebration of his life.
Ulysses received his formal education in the Bibb County Public School System and graduated in 1957 from Ballard Hudson High School in Macon, Georgia. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served proudly in the Vietnam War. Staff Sergeant Hargrove would go on to complete an illustrious, 39-year military career that spanned the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Air Force Reserves, and the Air National Guard. In 2006, he retired from Keebler Bakery, where he was employed for nearly 30 years and was repeatedly elected to serve his co-workers as a union delegate. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Marjorie Webb Hargrove, his brothers Henry Hargrove, Charles Hargrove, Frederick Hargrove, and Lorenzo Hargrove, along with his nephew, Udondra Hargrove.
Ulysses was a loyal member of the Church. He was a faithful member of Westside A.O.H. Church, under the leadership of Overseer Jimmy D. Webb, and later, Overseer LaTonya Dean. Ulysses was also a loyal husband. His love for his wife, Marjorie, endured for over 60 years and he enjoyed nothing more than providing for his family and doing so with class and grace.
Mr. Ulysses Hargrove is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Estorious Hargrove, and he was anxiously awaiting the summer arrival of his granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters, Lillie Hargrove Daniel and Millicent Hargrove Bentley; brother: Louie Hargrove; sister-in-laws: Betty Hargrove, Elsie Hargrove, Barbara Lee, and Gracie Moss; brother-in-law and wife: Donald and Elizabeth Webb, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Note from Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ulysses Hargrove
“We would like to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the uplifting prayers and comforting words of everyone in our time of grief. The last 18 months have not been easy for either of us, but it helped immensely to have a network of family, friends, and health professionals to walk with us along on our journey. To those who gave of their precious time and hearts to comfort my father - if you ever prayed with Ulysses, if you ever fed him, if you ever grieved with him, if you ever counseled him, or if you simply laughed with him, your kind deeds truly meant a great deal to him in his final months, and we will never forget the love that was shared.
We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the members of Westside A.O.H. Church, New Dawn Ministries, Bell’s Temple A.O.H. Church, King’s Chapel Baptist Church, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Your prayers and kind deeds provided the inspiration to persevere in the face of unbeatable odds.
To the angels and tireless employees at Brightmoor Hospice and Amedysis Compassionate Care, we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation for the diligent care and treatment you provided for my father. You maintained his dignity and treated him as a member of your own family, and for that we forever thank you.
May God bless everyone and your families for the love you have shown for mine. May the love of Marjorie and Ulysses Hargrove be always in your hearts. May peace be with you all. Thank you.”
