

Virginia Drew Turner, 83, passed away Tuesday, at a local hospital. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Brian Everett will officiate. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Turner, wife of the late George W. Turner, was born in Brunswick the daughter of the late Thomas and Mae Baldwin Drew. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Michael Middleton. Mrs. Turner earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from Newberry College and taught in the Bibb County School System for thirty-five years, many of those years at Minnie Burghard Second Grade. A giving and selfless person, she loved her job because she loved her students. Mrs. Turner was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church where she gave of herself in the Keenagers Group and serving with the Food Bank at the church and also serving with the Middle Georgia Food Bank.
She is survived by those she loved most, her daughters, Janna (Tony) Moore and Gena Minshew, all of Macon; two grandchildren, Dana Tidwell and Jennifer Tidwell of Macon; two great grandchildren, Clayton Andrew Johnson and Mathias Wilson Johnson of Macon; her family, Stevie and Pam Turner, two sisters-in-law, Rhodesia Turner and Merlon Turner, and her extended family.
