Walter Eugene Harrington, Jr., 74, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Harrington officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reformation Hope Inc., an Orphanage in Haiti, at www.reformationhope.org.
Walter was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Walter Eugene and Hattie Harrington. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Walter F. George School of Law. He was an attorney and served on the Houston County Board of Commissioners two terms: as a Member and as Chairman. He also served as the Attorney for the Housing Authority in Warner Robins, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a United Way volunteer, recipient of numerous awards. Walter was also an artist and Little League Baseball Coach for many years.
He is survived by his sons, Rev. Marc (Kate) Harrington of Marietta, GA, Michael Harrington of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Lea, Quinn, and Wes Harrington, Geneva and Savannah Harrington; sister, Kay Pack of Atlanta; nephew, Jay Griffin and niece, Allison Cain and several cousins.
