

William C. Churchwell, Jr., 79, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children’s Hospital, 888 Pine St., Macon, 31201 or the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Churchwell was born in Macon, Georgia to the late William Clarence Churchwell Sr. and Margaret Lee Clements, and was preceded in death by several of his siblings. He retired from Armstrong World Industries after 38 years. Mr. Churchwell was an avid skier, and enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing, and guns, and was a regular at Bass and Antler Gun Shop. He was previously on the Board of Directors for the Macon Motor Boat Club, where he volunteered on the rescue unit. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Churchwell of Eatonton; children, Cynthia “Cindy” Smith (Larry) of Monticello, Andy Churchwell of Atlanta, Crystal Mathews of Lake Sinclair, Stephanie Stephens of Buckhead and Stephen Watson of Madison; grandchildren, Tom Smith, Lara Perry, Hunter Smith, Christina Tillman Diaz, Brooke Tillman, Emily Watson, Rose Stephens and Tessa Watson; great grandchildren, Smith Perry, Lillie Belle Perry and Nathan Perry; siblings, Jim Churchwell, Donnie Wayne Churchwell, Charlie Churchwell and Dottie Stansbury; numerous nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Beth Hartley Churchwell Doles.
