

MARBLEHEAD - It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Anne O'Neil, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on October 21, 2024, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA, after a long illness, surrounded by her daughters. Christine lived a life filled with grace, faith, and boundless love, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She was 76 years old.
Born on May 31, 1948, in Washington, DC, and raised in Bethesda, MD. Christine spent her early years relishing in her large and loving family. She was the devoted mother of three daughters, Keesa Sung (Iyue), MaryEllen LaCamera (Christopher), and Julie Arnold, who were the light of her life. Christine found immense joy as a doting grandmother to Francesca, AnnaClare, Eleni (Ellie) Sung, Aiden, and Owen LaCamera. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; she cherished every moment spent with them.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, MaryEllen and Paul O'Neil, and her sister, Peggy Ghent. She is survived by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and siblings Sharon Palank, Paul O'Neil, Edward O'Neil, Maureen Lapsa, Patrick O'Neil, Stephen O'Neil, MaryBeth Stapleton, and many nieces and nephews.
A devout Catholic, Christine's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She dedicated much of her time to her church, teaching religious education to two generations at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead. Later in life, she enjoyed many friends and the welcoming community she found as a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Essex. Her spiritual devotion extended beyond her local community as she embarked on pilgrimages to Vatican City, where she deepened her connection to her faith.
Christine's love was immense, and her spirit was infectious. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy is one of love, faith, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
Friends will be received at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead, on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Christine's life will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea. A private burial will be held at a later date.
