MARBLEHEAD - Jean Elizabeth (April) Young, 80, of Moultonborough, NH and formerly of Boxford, Topsfield and Marblehead passed away on November 22nd at Kaplan Hospice House, Danvers. She was the loving wife of Ronald A. Young with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.
Born in Marblehead, the 4th of 5 daughters of the late Gertrude (Shirley) and Arthur April, she was raised in Marblehead and graduated from Marblehead High School with the Class of 1961. Along with her family including her late sister, Lorraine Lemieux, who passed 7 days after Jean on November 29th, Jean was active within St. Stephen’s Methodist Church, Marblehead in her younger years. She earned degrees at Burdett Business College in 1963 and Salem State University in 1989.
Although she worked for GE River Works in Lynn as a returned parts manager for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 1999, Jean’s life was centered around her family. Jean was a caring and loving wife and sister, always concerned with family and friends' well-being and happiness. Having no children of her own, “Auntie” as she was affectionately known, helped to raise all her sisters' children and many of their children. She was all about birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas. Jean had many serious medical conditions throughout her life overcoming them all through her faith in God and loving support of family and friends. Jean was able to maintain a positive outlook on life throughout the years and was a joy to all who knew her.
Jean was the beloved wife of Ronald Young of Moultonborough, the dear sister of Carol April of Swampscott, the late Dorothy Nutt of Florida, the late Shirley Wilkins of Marblehead and the recently deceased, Lorraine Lemieux and late husband, Paul of Marblehead.
