PEABODY & MARBLEHEAD - Marilyn B. Adams, age 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, at Brightview Assisted Living in Danvers, MA. She was predeceased by her husband John F. Adams, whom she shared almost 60 years of marriage.
Born in the town of Marblehead, MA, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Fred and Minerva (Dupar) Orne and was the last survivor of 8 siblings who included Evelyn, Putt, Frank, Betty, Raymond, Bud & Robert Orne.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Cynthia Adams-Burnham and her husband, Craig Burnham of Salem, MA and Cheryl Adams Fiset and her husband Gary Fiset of Haverhill, MA. Marilyn was a proud grandmother of Abigail Burnham, Kyle Burnham, Jason Fiset, and Cory Fiset. She was a great-grand mother to five beautiful girls, Josie, Izzie, Rylie, Kaya, and Miller. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn grew up in Marblehead and had fond memories of her time spent on the ocean with her parents and siblings. She especially remembered rowing over to Devereux beach on summer days. After graduating from Marblehead High School she worked at the GE as an office assistant.
Marilyn met her husband while dancing on the ice at a local skating rink. Both Marilyn and John enjoyed ice skating and were often some of the first to test newly frozen ponds with their children in tow. They also loved hiking in the White Mountains and spending time at the helm of their boat in Spruce Creek, Kittery.
When married, the couple moved to West Peabody where they raised their family. After John passed, Marilyn stayed in Peabody for a few years but spent the past 6 years living at Brightview, Danvers.
Marilyn was happiest when outdoors or on the go. She enjoyed working in the yard in Peabody or her place in Kittery, ME, dipping her feet in the ocean at Devereux Beach or riding the ferry at Weirs Beach. In her later years a ride with her daughters to look at the ocean and eat pizza made her day.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society via cancer.org or to Care Dimensions Hospice via caredimensions.org. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at eustisandcornellfuneralhome.com for Marilyn's family.
