

Pat was born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, and served in the Army Air Corps as a nurse during WWII. After the war she married and moved to Marblehead where she raised four children and continued her career in nursing. Pat returned to school at Salem State College and was accepted into the first Master’s of Nursing program, graduating at the age of 65. She worked at the Mary Alley Hospital in Marblehead and went on to Administrative and Instructional positions at Salem Hospital, Greater Lynn Senior Services and the Marblehead Visiting Nurses Association.
Her many talents and interests included first and foremost her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, then reading, sewing, gardening, book club, quilting, painting, and singing with the Neptunes. She was very active with the Star of the Sea church and school. Pat was a strong and independent lady, a tremendous role model especially for her children and all who met her. She achieved everything she set her mind to despite any obstacles standing in her path. She inspired people with her fairness, integrity, strength of character and her sense of humor.
Preceding her in death were her ex-husband G. A. “Nick” Nickerson and two sons, Wayne and Craig Nickerson. She is survived by a daughter Gayle Louisos and husband Stefan of Marblehead, a son Brian Nickerson of Rye, NH, and a son Dennis Nickerson and wife Jean Canestrini of Park City, Utah. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A private ceremony for immediate family was held on Saturday, October 18th prior to her internment at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead. A Memorial Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Avenue, Marblehead is scheduled for Friday, December 5th at 9:00 a.m. with a celebration of her life following the next day on Saturday Dec. 6th, location to be determined. Relatives and friends are invited to attend both events.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia Ann Nickerson’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or The Marblehead Council on Aging located in the Marblehead Community Center, 10 Humphrey St. Marblehead MA. Arrangements by Eustis and Cornell of Marblehead.
