Paul was born on August 20, 1934, and raised in Marblehead, son of the late Wilfred and Lauretta (Sweetland) Lemieux. Paul was very proud to be a true “Header”, his home where he gladly chose to spend the entirety of his life. He attended Marblehead Schools, but ultimately left to work for his father’s taxi cab business “Colonial Cab”. Paul enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Army in 1957, with the majority of his time spent in Germany. After Paul’s service, he returned to Marblehead where he began his career working for the town, first with the Municipal Light Dept reading meters, and then the School Dept as a custodian, followed by 25 years working as the utility man for the Police Dept. He finished his service as a crossing guard, working his ‘post’ for nearly 15 years; a combined service to the town of 50 years. It was during Paul’s years with the Light Dept that he met the love of his life, his wife Lorraine.
Paul had many interests, but first and foremost was the love he had for his family, especially his wife, his two children, and his six grandchildren. His hobbies included gardening, where he would spend his weekend days tending to his vegetables and flowers. Paul was also an avid collector of coins and Marblehead postcards, he enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, bird watching, and dining out at his favorite local spots - the Driftwood and Tony’s Pizza.
Paul shared 52 years of marriage with his wife Lorraine. He was also the devoted father to Karl Lemieux and his wife Jody, of Marblehead, his daughter Danielle Brown and her husband Ryan, of Danvers. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Haley, Abby, Becca, Jake, Tyler and Zachary. Paul was predeceased by his siblings: Wilfred, Donald, Clarence, Gerald, Phyllis, Roland and Leonard. He leaves behind his sisters Janice Standley, Lorraine Malionek (and her husband Richard), and Alice Dow. Paul is also survived by 20+ nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.
