MARBLEHEAD - Wayne S. Davis, age 77, of Marblehead, passed away on May 2, 2024 at Seasons of Danvers. Wayne was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Cuffe) Davis with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage. He was also the devoted father of the late Christopher Davis.
Born in Revere on July 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Elwin S. Davis and the late Irma M. (Bowen) Davis. The family moved to Reading for a very short time and then moved to Danvers where Wayne grew up and graduated from Danvers High School with the Class of 1964. Wayne went on to receive a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and graduated in 1968. He worked as an information technology and services professional, traveling the world as a manufacturers' representative for several Fortune 500 companies for over 40 years until his retirement.
Wayne and Carol lived in Marblehead for several years then moved to Pleasanton, California where they lived for over 30 years. They welcomed their son in 1981 and could not have been happier or more proud of Christopher.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Edward Burns of Winchester; his sisters, Jean Donahue of Tyngsboro, Lisa St. Claire and her husband, Peter of Danvers, and Tracey Price and her husband, Richard of Haverhill; his brother-in-law, Peter Cuffe and his wife, Lisa of Marblehead; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his son, Christopher, his wife, Carol and his parents, Wayne was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert E. Davis and James A. Burns.
Wayne loved sailing, scuba diving, traveling, but nothing more than playing golf, especially with his son Christopher.
Quite a few of Wayne's brothers from the Beta Kappa Phi Fraternity at UMASS\Amherst all kept in touch over the years and would get together as often as possible, here in Massachusetts, as well as in California. All of Wayne’s friends and fraternity brothers always referred to him as “Wayno.”
Wayne spent his final years at a wonderful Alzheimer’s facility in Danvers, called “Seasons,” where he was treated with the utmost care and respect. Wayne is at peace now with Carol and Christopher and his family.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 13th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. Interment in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead will be private.
