

Jack was born January 2, 1936 in Ponca City, OK to Dorothy and Ernest C. Carder Sr. When he was young, his family relocated to Illinois. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army. He resided in DeKalb for many years, where he raised his two children with his first wife Phyllis. In 2000, he married Barbara Connell and shortly after they moved to Marengo.
Jack worked for Chrysler Corporation and later with car dealerships in fleet sales. He was an active member of the Marengo United Methodist Church. His family was very important to him. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, attending all of their activities from sporting events to musical performances.
Jack was survived by his children Paige (Syd) Stratton and Blake (Becky) Carder; his stepchildren Lisa (Jim) Marostica and Patrick (Mary) Connell. He is further survived by his grandchildren Glenn (Mary), Emily (Sam), Andrew, Parker (Hayley), Matthew, Kevin (Hannah), Emily, Nevin, Eva, Mackenzie, Matthew (Michaela), Riley, and Dylan. Great grandchildren Joey, Tessa, Clara, Mackenna, Jayce, and Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; his brother, Ken Carder.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on June 19, 2026, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 East Grant Highway, Marengo.
The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am on June 20, 2026, at Marengo United Methodist Church, 119 E Washington St, Marengo, Illinois 60152.
Interment will follow in Marengo City Cemetery.
