Frances "Jean" Britton

Frances “Jean” Britton, 89, of Marengo died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin. She was born May 2, 1925 in Colp, Illinois to Cyrus and Lula Cranor. On November 18, 1944 she married Elmer Britton in Elgin. She was a woman of her generation; a wonderful homemaker, great cook and ran a tight household. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Harmony where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years Elmer; daughters: Barbara (Bob Keller) Christ of Marengo, Mary (Joe) Rybicki of Highlands Ranch, CO, Patsy (Bob) Doyle of Martinsville, IN; grandchildren: Kathleen (Chris) Carr of Hampshire, Kate (Paul) Diehl of Brooklyn, NY, Elaine Doyle of Martinsville, IN; great-grandchildren: Mary, Sarah and Christopher Carr; sister Patsy (Roger) Richardson of Grayslake.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters: Aileen, Jack, Roy Lee, Geraldine and Peggy.

Visitation will be at St John's United Church of Christ,11821 E,. Grant Hwy,

Hampshire (Harmony) from 10:00am until the funeral service at 12.00pm on Wed, June 18. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the church.
