Gerald “Gerry” Mason, 80, of Marengo, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2024. Gerry was born on January 6, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating high school, he joined the Marines. He was honorably discharged and moved to the Streamwood area. He moved to Marengo, IL in 2009, where he met and fell in love with Joan Watermann.
Gerry was an avid, passionate bowler. He was a PBA bowler, and made the tour for many years. He and Joan would go bowling together often. He loved to share his passion with others, teaching and coaching anyone who was willing to learn. He would go to the local bowling alley and help the owners however he could. He was a devoted father to his three children. Gerry was a positive person, choosing to look at things and find the laughter in them. He’ll be remembered for his jokes (the good and the bad ones), and his easy laughter.
Gerry is survived by his partner, Joan Watermann; his children Kimberly, Tamara & Gerald “JJ” Jr.; and many beloved friends.
Gerry is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters Marilyn & Karen.
