Helen was born March 11, 1929 in Chicago to Scolastica and Raymond Michels. She was a long-time member of St. Ansgar Catholic Church in Hanover Park.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Cynthia) Peters and Constance Greszewski; her grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, and Timothy; eight great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Ronald (Coralyn) Peters; sister-in-law, Jane (Tiny) Peters; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Peters; parents; her brother, Marvin Michels; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Patricia Michels; brother-in-law, Robert Peters; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Vince Georgen; her granddaughter, Christine Peters-Holt; and great-nephew, Vincent Georgen.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 8pm on Thursday, September 8 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. There will be a funeral Mass celebrated at 10am on Friday, September 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo.
Interment in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery will be private.
