John F. Haras

He was born April 9, 1945 in Highland Park to Anton and Frances (Volpendesta) Haras. On December 7, 1963 he married Jane Berube at St. James Church in Highwood.

John was a member of the Highland Park Jaycees for many years. He was active in Martial Arts and enjoyed riding his Harley whenever he had the chance. He and his wife owned and operated J n J’s Restaurant in Marengo from 1980 to 1990. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

John is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, John Haras, Joey Haras, Jennifer (William) Marshall; his grandchildren, Jordon Johns, Kierstin (Derek) Richardson, Kayla (Anthony) Kuhn, Krystal Marshall, Anton and Sophia Haras; his great-grandchildren, Dylan John and Willow Rayne; and his siblings, Richard (Betty) Haras and Douglas Haras.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Anton and Gerald Haras.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Sunday, July 5 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo.
