Julia R. Henderson, 78, formerly of South Elgin and Huntley, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 in Rockford. Born October 17, 1937 in Elgin; she was the daughter of Edwin T. and Virginia (Lusted) Young. She married Rodger Jay Henderson on March 19, 1960 in Carpentersville.
She was a member of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley and a former member of Community United Methodist Church in South Elgin. Julia retired from Elgin Community College after 34 years of employment.
She enjoyed reading romance novels; eating ice cream, Cheetos and Dove Chocolates; and spending time with her grandchildren and her friends.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Jill Ann (James) Altman, Carla Jean (Jack) Keeney and Rae Lynn (Patrick) Caskey; grandchildren, Janelle Oberg, Timothy (Erin) Altman, Zachariah (Jennifer) Caskey and Derek Caskey; brothers, Jack, Phillip and Edwin Young; sisters, Kathi Magerl and Nancy Krueger; many nieces and nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Tom and Jerry Young; sisters, Gloria Martini, Sally Rattray and Catherine Young.
Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St., Huntley; Pastor Mark Boster officiating.
