Julia M. Woodward

She was born June 2, 1923, in Chicago, to Peter and Mary (Filarski) Bierzychudek. She married Daniel Woodward in 1942 in Woodstock. Together, they were active in the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills area serving on many committees including the fire auxiliary. She was active in the Cub Scouts, a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin and later Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marengo. She was a great wife, mother and homemaker whose family was very important to her.

She is survived by her children, Daniel (Ina) Woodward III, Michael Woodward and Christine Martin; her grandchildren, Cyndi (Patrick) Bradley, Ronald (Michelle) Woodward, Tracy Woodward, Jason Martin, Daniel Woodward IV and Roxanne Woodward; her great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Blake, Connor and Keeley; and a great-great-grandchild, Courtney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel; a son, Jeff P. Woodward; a grandson, Michael Woodward; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Woodward; and her brothers and sisters, Stella, Mary, Victoria, Frances, John and Joseph.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 323 N. Taylor St., Marengo. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Marengo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her favorite charity, the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.
