Katie Lou Kelly

Katie was born on September 26th, 1956 to Ralph and Nancy (Porter) Peters, in Belvidere, IL. Katie is survived by her daughter, Caitlynn Kelly, her sisters Kim Roberts (Doug) and Kelly Woyach (Larry), her brother J.D. Peters (Carole), her nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Sadie.

Katie attended Marengo Community High School, where she maintained a close group of life-long friends and participated in cheerleading, a talent she carried into adulthood. Katie’s bubbly personality, smile, and genuine kindness made her a friend to all.

Katie’s family was of the utmost importance to her. She could be found at every family function spreading her contagious laughter and warm, loving spirit. She fostered intentional bonds with everyone, knowing and loving each individual in ways only she could. Her nieces and nephews will remember her for her fun-loving nature, quirky personality, and endless baked goods.

Katie’s greatest accomplishment was her daughter, Caitlynn, whom she fiercely loved and held as her pride and joy. Katie was present at every school function, every sporting event, and every life-moment; she was a constant source of unconditional love, guidance, and unwavering support.

Katie’s legacy is one of unyielding positivity, kindness, a fiery spirit, warmth and deep love. Her light shone brighter than any darkness ever could, and she will be forever missed.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25th, from 4-6P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church (412 Jackson Street, Marengo, IL), with a church service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
