Mary Lehman

She was born April 29, 1936 in Chicago to Michael and Anna (Boland) Poleski. On September 14, 1957 she married Jonas Lehman Jr. in Chicago.

She was a teacher’s aide for many years at Wicker Park School and Schubert School until her retirement. She volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and was an animal lover. She loved snowmen and gingerbread men; she said they made her smile because they always looked so happy. She was generous, had a joyful disposition and always had a positive outlook.

She was the beloved wife and best friend of Jonas for 54 years; loving mother of Jonas III and mother and best friend to Jeanne; loving grandmother of Sara, Alexandra, Andrea, and Jonas IV; dear sister of Joseph Poleski; and a special aunt and sister-in-law to many. She will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Nicholas and Michael; and her sister, Alice.

A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Thursday, November 17, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. A service will be at 7pm.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family to establish a memorial at a later date.
