Robert "Bob" A. Hensel

He was born May 25, 1947 in Belvidere to Arthur and Marilyn (Swanlund) Hensel. He married Karen Kunde on November 21, 1970 in Marengo.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He worked at Kenmode as a tool and die maker for 37 years and volunteered for the Marengo Rescue Squad for 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen; his children Bob (Meredith) Hensel and Keri (Chris) Nolen; his grandchildren Cade, Cole, and Caelan Nolen, and Sam Hensel; his mother Marilyn; his sister Lori (Robert) Karstensen; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Kyle and his father Arthur.

Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Monday May 14 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 10am to the 11am funeral service on Tuesday, May 15 at First Baptist Church, 320 E. Washington St, Marengo. Interment will follow at Marengo City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, or to the family to establish a memorial fund in Robert’s honor.
