

He was born in Woodstock, the oldest child of Hettie (Baker) and Vernon Seelhoff. In 1960 he married Violet Sawallisch.
Vernon was a graduate of Woodstock High School and worked at Arnold Engineering. He coached his daughters’ softball teams, was a paramedic, a board member for Marengo Rescue Squad and a Tool Room Union Representative at Arnold Engineering. He enjoyed winemaking, vegetable and flower gardening, bird watching and jewelry making. He loved and cherished his family most of all.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Violet; children Michael (Rona) Seelhoff and Dawn (Matthew) Green; five grandchildren Kyle Tanis, Joseph Green, Faye Green, Gianna Green and Maryella Green; brother Ronald Seelhoff and step brother Wayne (Diane) Wilke.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dina (Bill) Tanis; his parents Hettie & Vernon Seelhoff; brother Charlie Seelhoff, and step siblings Gordon (Bonnie) Wilke and Virginia (Bern) Danielson
Visitation will be held at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 East Grant Highway, Marengo, IL, 60152, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Continued visitation will occur at St John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St, Union, IL, 60180, on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 9:30 am until the Funeral Service at 11am.
Interment will be at 2pm in McHenry County Memorial Park, 11301 Lake Ave, Woodstock, IL 60098.
