Werner "Pete" Bertsch

He was born September 15, 1934 in Germany to Adolf and Lina (Beesch) Bertsch. On March 23, 1957 he married Erna Kanwischer in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Pete enjoyed his trade of cabinet making. He loved working with his hands, especially woodworking. When he was younger he would go skiing and play soccer, as he got older he took up gardening. He loved nature, camping, and the beautiful scenery he would see as traveling.

He is survived by his loving wife, Erna; his son, Steven (Jessica) Bertsch; his grandson, Zachary; his brother, Jüergen Faherer; his brother-in-law, Ed (Edda) Kanwischer of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; his nephew, Arthur Kanwischer and his three sons; and his niece, Sonya (Chuck) McKenna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ellen Ketterer.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to Visiting Nurses Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Pete at his home. Also a thank you to Maria, Kim, Grace, Jeanette, and all their dear friends for their loving support.

Visitation will be from 10am to the 10:30am funeral service on Tuesday, May 12 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1601 Garfield St, Harvard, IL 60033.

Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard.
