Charles Shelton Young

Charles “Chuck” Shelton Young, age 83, of Marietta, GA (formerly of Powder Springs, GA) passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 27 at Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, GA.

Chuck was born November 16, 1933 in Blairsville, GA to Charlie James and Willa Mae Jackson Young. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Don Otis Young.

He retired from the Charlie Brown Airport after 24 ½ years as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Chuck loved his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He will be greatly missed.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Janette Young; his two daughters: Debbie (Barry) Shumake of Powder Springs, GA and Becky (Lee) Branan III of Kennesaw, GA; two sisters: Barbara Bedgood of Dallas, GA and Gloria Jean (Rodney) Gardner of Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Peggy Young of Dallas, GA. He was Grandaddy to 5 grandchildren: Staci (Jason) Chatham, Eric (Sarah) Shumake, Lisa (Daniel) Edmunds, Lee Bartow (Kelley) Branan IV and Laura Ann Branan; 7 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Skylar, Tristyn, Easton, Alexa, Peyton and Grayson, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 26 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel, Powder Springs, GA. www.mayeswarddobbins.com
