In Loving Memory of Daphne Duplessis Saddler
July 6, 1986 – June 7, 2025
With deep sorrow and ubiquitous love, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Daphne Duplessis Saddler, who departed this life on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 38.
Daphne was born on a Sunday, July 6, 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts, to her parents, Marie Lusta Sydney and Jacques Duplessis. She was also raised by her aunt Jhislaine Duplessis, whom she affectionately called "Mommy." Surrounded by the love of her extended family, Daphne was raised with strong religious values filled with care and discipline. As a child, she showed a deep passion for reading, dancing, and play. She formed lasting bonds with her relatives that carried her through life.
She attended J.F. Kennedy Middle School in Randolph, Massachusetts, and later attended Fenway High School, where she stood out as a kind, bright, and well-loved student, someone everyone wanted to befriend. Her infectious personality, rich with witty jokes and bold, magnetic charisma, drew everyone in, persistent throughout her life. It was what made Daphne...Daphne.
After graduating from high school, Daphne continued her academic journey at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Studies and West African History. She was a proud and active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., where she embraced sisterhood, service, and scholarship. She came through the "Oh So Fly" Pi Xi Chapter in Spring 2005. She also served in student government and participated in a life-changing study abroad program in Senegal, where she studied sustainable development and deepened her passion for community advocacy.
Daphne went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in Gainesville. During law school, she excelled as a student leader serving on the Law Student Council, joining the Corporate and Securities Moot Court Team, and contributing to the Journal of International Law and Public Policy. Her commitment to justice was evident early on, and she pursued every opportunity to grow as a servant-leader and advocate.
She began her legal career as a public defender in Lake City, Florida, representing clients in high-stakes felony cases. Her courtroom skills, empathy, and courage earned her great respect. She later transitioned into civil litigation, defending insurance companies and corporations in complex cases, but her heart remained with those who had been wronged. That conviction led her to personal injury law, where she fought passionately for the rights of injured clients at Morgan & Morgan and John Foy & Associates in Georgia.
In May 2024, Daphne fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming her own boss and establishing a family legacy by founding Brick Law Firm in Marietta, Georgia. As the firm’s principal attorney, she built a practice rooted in compassion, resilience, and justice, values shaped by her upbringing and her Haitian heritage. Daphne treated every client with the care and attention they deserved, and she fought tirelessly to help them find healing through justice.
Daphne was also a dedicated board member of the McKleskey YMCA in Marietta, where she gave back to the community she loved so dearly. In her personal time, she enjoyed running 5Ks, exploring art exhibits, attending comedy shows, and listening to music of all genres, from classical and pop to Haitian kompa. Her favorite moments were spent outdoors with her three children, biking, hiking, skating, and traveling together as a family.
Above all, Daphne was a devoted and loving mother to her three precious children: Layla Marie Saddler, Nathaniel Mills, and Ezra Mills. They were the light of her life and her greatest joy. She leaves them a legacy of courage, love, and faith.
Daphne is survived by her children, her parents Jacques Duplessis and Marie Lusta Sydney, her aunt Marie Jhislaine Duplessis, her step-mother Rose Laure Duplessis; and her siblings. She is remembered with immense love by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, clients, and neighbors. Her legacy will continue in every life she touched with her wisdom, strength, and radiant spirit.
