

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. Interment will take place at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
She was a native of Marietta and was a Marietta High School graduate. She attended Hope Business College and worked for AT&T. Florence was active in PTA and the scouting programs for boys and girls. She helped organize the first Kindergarten and the first library at St. Andrew Methodist Church where she was a member. Florence was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and an after School Tutor for Community Faith in Action. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bradenton, FL, the United Methodist Women, and the Judah P. Benjamin Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Upon moving to Marietta, she was a member of the Progressive Sunday School Class and an associate member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta. Florence’s hobby of shell collecting led her to make many gifts of shell lamps, mirrors, pictures, etc. for family and friends.
Florence is survived by her husband of 76 years, Charles Gilbert Shaw; sons, Charles G. Shaw and Bruce J. Shaw; daughter, Sadie L. Palmer; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Robert A. Shaw and her six siblings.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
