Frieda Mary Sullivan Currao, born in Brooklyn, New York on November 27, 1938, passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2026, after a long illness.
Frieda attended high school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Brooklyn. After graduating, she worked as an executive secretary at several companies in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
When Frieda was a teenager, she lived in Red Hook, Brooklyn with her grandmother and mother. She spent summers in the mountains of Pennsylvania - she loved the outdoors and had a passion for nature.
She met the love of her life, Vince Currao, through a family member who lived in the same building as her in Red Hook.
Frieda and Vince were together for 64 years and their deep love for each other was obvious; they loved being together and traveling extensively around the world with family and friends.
Frieda was mother to Maureen (Alex) and Vincent Jr. (Amy). She always said their births changed her life for the better and they felt that in her love and support.
She took special joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Molly (Sourish), Alex (Nicole), Julianna [with whom she shared a birthday] and Henry.
Frieda loved being with her family and friends and just chit-chatting. She loved to shop (Dollar Store and T.J. Maxx were her favorites) and to bake goodies for friends and family. She was an avid reader and history buff. Frieda was very proud of her Irish heritage - making multiple trips to visit family in Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day was one of her favorite days of the year. Her smile was infectious, she never met a stranger, and she was a hugger.
Frieda was preceded in death by her mother and father and is survived by her husband, daughter, son, and grandchildren.
A funeral mass is scheduled at St. Joseph’s Church in Marietta at 10:00am on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Per church policy, flowers are not permitted in the church sanctuary. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Following the service interment will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA
