Gary Edward. Colvin (80) of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday November 6th, 2024, at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. Interment will follow the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.

Gary was born on November 4, 1943, in Gadsden, AL. He was the first of three sons born to Thomas Edward Colvin and his wife, Sarah Laverne Lancaster. He attended high school at Etowah High School in Attalla, AL and graduated from Auburn University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Gary’s professional career led him to spend several decades working for Georgia Power.

He was pre-deceased by his father, Thomas Edward Colvin, his mother, Sarah Laverne Lancaster, and middle brother, Thomas Douglas Colvin. He is survived by wife, Myra Kathy Barnett Colvin, daughter Melissa Hettler (Chris), son Andrew Colvin, and two grandsons Jacob Hettler and Caleb Hettler. He is also survived by a younger brother, John Keith Colvin of Locust Grove, GA.

The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
