

A devoted family man, Air Force veteran and friend to all, James “Jim” Wayne Jacobs of Marietta, Georgia passed away at the age of 95 on December 21st, 2025. He was born in Pelham, Tennessee on October 13, 1930. Upon graduation from high school, he left the family farm to work on the Grand Coulee Dam. Afterwards, he proudly served his country during the Korean War in the capacity of morse code interception. He was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany, with the military intelligence unit of the U.S. Air Force Security Service, 41st RSM. Subsequently, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Tennessee and began his life-long career with the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Burbank, California, eventually transferring to Marietta, Georgia in the late 1960s.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife Billie Jo (née Williams) Jacobs, his parents - Clyde and Louise (née Rollings) Jacobs, and his siblings - Marian, Buck, Jo Ann (Josie) and Jack. He is survived by his son, Philip (and wife Nichol) Jacobs, his grandchildren - Eric and Liam Jacobs, his brother - John (and wife Sherry) Jacobs, and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
In his free time, Jim constantly attended to his greatest love - his family and multitude of friends. He also enjoyed his favorite pastimes of working in his beautiful garden, reading, studying history and science, and playing with his dog. He was a pillar of the community and of his family. Although he will be very greatly missed, his love and legacy will live on in those that loved and admired him, and his life so well lived. To Jim we say, "Thank You for all that you gave to us and to the world. Godspeed."
A graveside committal service will take place on Monday, December 29th, 2025 at 2:30 pm at Kennesaw Memorial Park, 1306 Whitlock Avenue, NW, Marietta, Ga. 30064. A small reception is to follow at Carmichael Funeral Home at 1130 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, Ga. 30064. (770) 424-4924. Any flowers sent to Carmichael's before 12pm Sun or 2pm Mon will be brought to the committal service.
