Jean Darnell, born Jean Marie Erwin, July 22, 1929, died July 15, 2013. Funeral Service will be at 11 AM, Thursday, July 18th at Olive Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Cheek and Rev. Mike officiating. She will lie-in-state from 10-11 AM at the Church. Interment will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jean was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved as a child to Miami, Florida. She graduated from Miami High School where she was a drum majorette and taught baton twirling at Bill Allen’s All Star Twirling Club. Jean married Jack Darnell in 1948 and moved to Jack’s home in the Fair Oaks Community of Marietta, Georgia. She was an active volunteer in the Fair Oaks Community Club, Fair Oaks Elementary and Osborne School sports, music and P.T.A programs and served one term as Osborne PTA President. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Olive Springs Baptist Church and member of their Sweet Spirit Singers Choir. Jean retired after many years of employment, as a leader with Weight Watchers International. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Darnell.
She is survived by children Joyce (Tom) Broughton, Larry (Karen) Darnell, Nancy (Mike) Brookshire, Steve Long, and Dan (Nancy) Long. She is loved by six grandchildren and four great-grand children.
