

Gladys Cloud Hamilton , age 93 , of Marietta , GA. passed away Monday October 10, 2016. She was a very brave and strong willed woman her entire life , battling many medical obstacles she was determined to live a full life but also enjoy her family by making them quilts , hand crafts , sewing and cooking them countless meals. She always gave her love and support to everyone. She was the fifth of fourteen children born to Tom & Vada Epperson Cloud on November 16,1922 in Canton , Cherokee Co. GA.. There she met and married on August 27,1942 , Berry W. Hamilton (1919-1980) and shared 37 years together. She was raised to work hard and did so throughout her life. She often spoke of chopping & picking cotton , when all the cotton was picked she would take a little sack and fill it with "scrap cotton" , take it to Orange store and they would give her a candy bar for her little sack of cotton. Once she went back to the store four times and got a Milky Way candy bar. She got sick and learned a lesson. She worked at different jobs while her children grew up and made sure she was home when they arrived from school. She worked at Green Acres Grammar School in the lunch room and also worked at Marietta Drapery pleating drapes. During WWII she worked for a time at a Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta as a riveter . She also worked at the Canton Cotton Mill. Preceding her in death are her Husband , Berry Hamilton Sr. , Great Granddaughter , Taylor Renee Hamilton , Surviving are her daughters , Diana & ( Ed ) Ellis of Powder Springs, GA. , Gayle Hamilton & husband , Joe Kiser of Madison , GA. , Son , Berry Hamilton Jr. of Marietta , GA. , Grandchildren , Brian ( Janelle ) Hamilton of Chesapeake , VA , Gray Ellis , Douglasville , Tom Ellis ,Dallas , Granddaughter , Leigh ( Eric ) Simmons of Waycross , Also Surviving are four Great Grandchildren , Peyton , Lennox , john & Jackson. Also surviving are sisters, Joyce Bishop , Peggy Wright both of Canton , many nieces and nephews. Everyone knew her as “Granny ". She was a loving, kind and thoughtful woman who had a great sense of humor and loved people. She loved her Lord and Savior and read daily in her Bible. Her absence from this Earth will be greatly mourned , her family and friends will miss her tremendously. Burial will take place Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
