Terry Alfred Rush, 76, of Mableton, Georgia died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Kennestone Hospital. Terry was born April 20, 1937 in Tallapoosa, Georgia and raised in Powder Springs, Georgia. He graduated from South Cobb High School in 1954. He received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He loved to work on family genealogy and spent many hours interviewing family members and researching family records. He was an avid reader, especially of history. He loved to travel, including visiting his children and grandchildren several times in Hong Kong and Germany when they lived overseas, a 25th wedding anniversary trip to Spain, and many family road trips when the kids were growing up, where he always enjoyed taking the “road less traveled,” exploring back roads.
Terry was the son of the late Ben Edward and Viola Rosetta Rush and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lucile Graham Rush, and one granddaughter.
Terry is survived by two children, Stephen Graham Rush and wife Theodosia of Columbus, Indiana and Rebecca Rush Phillips and husband Darren of Cary, North Carolina; one sister, Brenda Jo Cobb and husband Thomas of Hiram, Georgia and one brother, Tom Rush of Lithia Springs, Georgia; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was a great father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be sorely missed.
