

on August 21, 1922 to Romey Cosmer Harris and Nettie Helms Harris. Alvin owned his own company, Harris Construction for 50 years. Alvin was a WWII Veteran, he served in the 29th Infantry Division on D-Day June 6, 1944 and served with it continuously until the capture of St. Co on July 18, 1944 and attended Clearview Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Irene Young Harris sisters, Rosa Hopkins, Clara Stanley and Jean Livingston and a brother, Aubrey Harris.
Surviving are his daughter, Faye Harris Martin of Martinsville; his grandchildren, Al Hundley and wife, Laura of Martinsville and Kathy Holthausen of Martinsville and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Taylor Holthausen.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home-Martinsville Chapel with Pastor James Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
