Benjamin C. Covington, 60, of Ridgeway, Va. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 7, 2019. He was born on March 19, 1958 to Judge Kenneth M. Covington and the late Norma Pulliam Covington in Ridgeway, Va. and lived in that community his entire life.
In addition to his father, Benny is survived by his sisters, Kimberly C. Darnell (David) of Holmes Beach, FL., Patti Covington of Martinsville and Jane Covington (Crane Jones) of Nashville, TN.; brother John R. Covington of Ridgeway.
Benny graduated from Drewry Mason High School in 1976 and attended Ferrum College. He worked for Bassett Industries for many years and later became an accomplished stone mason. Benny was an avid outdoorsman at an early age and he understood many of nature’s secrets. He was a loyal friend and a generous teacher of the outdoor knowledge he possessed.
He, his father and brother spent much time trout fishing the streams of Western Virginia and North Carolina, particularly those around Bryson City, N.C. where many wonderful memories were made with cousins and uncle J.C. Pulliam. Benny was a member of Broad Street Christian Church.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday January 14, 2019 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge, 603-B Memorial Blvd South, Martinsville, VA 24112.
