Benjamin C. Covington, 60, of Ridgeway, Va. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 7, 2019. He was born on March 19, 1958 to Judge Kenneth M. Darnell (David) of Holmes Beach, FL., Patti Covington of Martinsville and Jane Covington (Crane Jones) of Nashville, TN.; brother John R. Covington of Ridgeway. Benny graduated from Drewry Mason High School in 1976 and attended Ferrum College. He worked for Bassett Industries for many years and later became an accomplished stone mason. He, his father and brother spent much time trout fishing the streams of Western Virginia and North Carolina, particularly those around Bryson City, N.C. where many wonderful memories were made with cousins and uncle J.C. Pulliam. Benny was a member of Broad Street Christian Church. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday January 14, 2019 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. BENNY was Helen Jo's and Hunter's special buddy. He spent a lot of time one on one with each of them playing whatever they wanted to play. He made them feel loved and important and they looked forward to his visits.
They would talk about him often and say that they wanted him to come over and play. He loved children and I remember years ago how excited he would get when his sister and niece from Florida would visit. He would do
anything to help a friend and was loyal, fun and so sweet. He wasn't shy about telling you how he felt and when mom was alive he would come by the office to chat with her and bring her something sweet to eat. EVERYTIME
after his visit she would say "I sure do like Benny".
Our hearts are heavy and will keep his memory alive.
