Carl Edward Davis

Carl Edward Davis, 91, of Martinsville, Va. passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024. He was born in Abington, Washington County, Va. to Scott Lawrence Davis and Blanche Virginia Price Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alice D. Davis; brothers, Billy Joe Davis (Cathy), Robert Davis and Gale Davis; sister, Lois Evans. He is survived by his children, Wanda Mills (David), Cheryl Davis Martin (Gary), Scott L. Davis (Joyce); grandchildren, Jason Mills (Amanda), Kayla Stone (David), Steven Davis, Stacey Davis (Max Hall), Dustin Sheppard (Brittany), Cortney Wall and Colby Wall (Miranda); great grandchildren, Emma Grace, Hunner Faith, Sadie Rain, Odin Cloud, Nova Star and Willow Marie; brother-in-law, Eugene Evans and his Chiweenie dog, Bitty Bit. Carl was a hard worker who started working with the Virginia Highway Department and later as a heavy equipment operator. He later retired from Overnight Trucking Company with 25 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked as fill-in driver for Hooker Furniture whenever he was needed. Carl was very committed to his health and physical fitness. He enjoyed working out at Planet Fitness at least twice a week until his passing and he also enjoyed being outdoors mowing his yard and fishing. He loved watching NASCAR races. He was a Ford man and was always a big fan of Bill Elliott and David Pearson. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at McKee-Stone Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at McKee-Stone Chapel and will be officiated by Pastor David Gaylor. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
