

Fred Junior Foley, 87, of 1201 Spruce Street, Martinsville died Wednesday October 10, 2012 at the Salem VA Medical Center. He was born in Vinton on October 15, 1925 to the late William Arthur Foley and Clara Elizabeth LaPrade Foley. He served in the United States Navy and retired from being self employed after forty years working with seamless flooring. Fred was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church and attended McCabe Memorial Baptist Church. He was a member of the V.F.W. post 4637 and the Bassett American Legion.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Young and four brothers, Kermit, Archie, Lloyd and Robert “Donnie” Foley.
Surviving are his wife of thirty nine years, Rachel Donavant Foley of the home, one daughter, Regina Darlene Atkins of Bassett, one step-daughter, Rita Yvonne Baliles of Martinsville and one step-son, Douglas Claude Baliles of Winston Salem, NC., two sisters, Nancy Bousman and Eva Dale Scearce both of Bassett, four brothers, Earl Lee Foley of Fieldale, Arthur and Jimmy Foley both of Collinsville, Donald Foley of Martinsville, two grandchildren and one great grandchild along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 in Roselawn Burial Park with Rev. Lewis Harris officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 7-8p.m. Thursday October 11, 2012 in the chapel of McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the home.
