Irvin Gray Holley, born on August 1, 1947, in Martinsville, Va. was called home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, Gray Holley and his mother, Bernice Cox Holley. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Hazel and son, Jason, both of Martinsville Va.; his sister, Betty Camden and her son, Eric Camden (wife, Jessica) all of Wytheville, Va.
Irvin worked at Dupont for many years in engineering and management. As a hobby, he built race cars and race engines, winning many races and championships up and down the East Coast in dirt cars, late model stock cars and modifieds. He was especially proud of his wins at Martinsville, North Wilkesboro, and the modified championships he won with his Riggs Racing family.
Irvin was especially big on showing God’s love to others through random acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers or donations, he would like you to perform a random act of kindness. Whether you know the person or not, buy someone a meal. Pay for someone’s groceries when you’re in line. Or simply give someone a little extra cash and a smile to let them know that love and kindness are always around them.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Roselawn Burial Park.
McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville, Va. is serving the family. To express condolences online, please visit www.collinsmckeestonemartinsville.com
