James “Jimmy” Howard Clifton, also known as “Cowboy”, 73, of the Horsepasture Community passed away, Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born April 1, 1952, in Martinsville, Va. to the late Paul Corbet Clifton and Jean Lester Roberson Clifton.
He is survived by his brother, Paul “Jackie” Jackson Clifton (Diane); niece, Megane Savage (Shawn); nephew, Kevin Clifton and great niece, Ella Clifton.
Jimmy loved people and committed his life to serving and helping others. He was a lifetime member of the Horsepasture Fire Department and was a longtime member of the Horsepasture Rescue Squad. He also loved being an assistant coach for the Magna Vista girl’s softball team and was a very strong supporter of the Dallas Cowboys football team.
A visitation will be held at Horsepasture Christian Church from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025. A funeral service will held at the church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025 and will be officiated by Minister Kyle Thompson. Interment will be in the Horsepasture Christian Church Cemetery.
