

James F. “Chubby” Cox, Sr., 84, of Horsepasture- Price Road, Ridgeway, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 30, 2014. He was born in Henry County on March 31, 1930 to Cannie Frank Cox and Lula Clifton Cox. James served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a medic. He worked at Bob White Chevyland as a sales manager with 32 years of service. He was a member of Horsepasture Christian Church and Sunday School Class #8 and also a member of the Horsepasture Ruritan Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Belton Cox , his sister, Mary Griffith and his brother, Connis C. Cox.
Surviving are his wife, Estelle Evans Cox of the home, his daughters, Phyllis C. Holland and her husband, Eddie of Axton, Jennifer C. Brown and her husband, Darian of Ridgeway, his sons, James F. Cox, Jr. and wife, Linda of Axton, Barry I. Cox, Sr. and wife, Debbie of Horsepasture Community, Garry E. Cox and wife, Becky of Martinsville, nine grandchildren, James F. Cox, III (Ashley), Katelyn C. Peters (Ben), Barry I. Cox, Jr. (Wendy), Joshua C. Cox (Holley), Tracy C. Jones (Nick), Joshua V. Draper (Danielle), Jessica V. Draper, Eric J. Holland (Chelsey) and Justin M. Brown (Asia); five great-grandchildren, Alyssa Jones, Gage Jones, Jayden Cox, Ethan Brown and Caleb Peters; his sister, Lurenda Mitchell and husband, Zeamor of Ridgeway, his brothers, Lonnie M. Cox and wife, Genelle, Granville Cox and wife, Pernie and Henry W. Cox all of Ridgeway.
The funeral service will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Horsepasture Christian Church with Minister Dave Cuthbertson officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Ridgeway.
