June Higgins Smith

June Higgins Smith, 83, of Ridgeway, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 12, 1930 to Carl Jackson Higgins and Violet Edwards Higgins, both deceased. She retired from Central Storage, Inc.

June was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church in Ridgeway for over 50 years and taught Sunday school for over 40 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry G. Smith; three sisters, Alma H. Higgins, Joyce H. Pierce and Faith H. Nichols and her twin brother, Jack Houston Higgins.

Surviving are three sons, Steve Smith of Martinsville, Jim Smith and wife, Becky of Atlanta, GA, Robert Smith and wife, Robbie of Ridgeway; seven grandchildren, Winter Hall, Kristin Smith, Matthew Smith, Erik Smith, Marc Smith, Megan S. Howard and Morgan Smith; two great-grandchildren, Cyrus Howard and Kathryn Smith.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 3, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at Mrs. Smith’s residence in Ridgeway.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the Roselawn Burial Park Abbey.
