

Kenneth was born on August 24, 1954, in Martinsville, the third son of Marjorie Dickie Midkiff and Dr. H. Marvin Midkiff. A graduate of Martinsville High School and the the University of Virginia, Kenneth received his DDS at the Medical College of Virginia in 1980, after which he returned to his home town to practice dentistry with his father. While in college, Kenneth was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He served as a past president of Piedmont Dental Chapter of the Virginia Dental Society. He generously donated his time to dental clinics in the area, traveled to Central America on a mission trip, and participated in the Hurricane Mission of Mercy after Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Midkiff is survived by his wife Robin Meyer, his father Dr. H. Marvin Midkiff, and siblings Dr. William Midkiff and Kathleen O'Hagan of Chesapeake; Dickie and Susan Midkiff of Midlothian; James and Amy Midkiff of Keeling; and brother-in-law Kyle and Terry Meyer of Berryville. Adoring nieces and nephews include Michael Midkiff, Will Midkiff, Max Midkiff, Matthew Midkiff, Caroline Midkiff, Henry Midkiff, Allison Midkiff, Amanda Ginn, Melissa Sharp, Ellie Meyer, Emma Meyer, and godchildren Lucy and Jack Roberts.
An avid fisherman, Kenneth enjoyed casting for stripers on Smith Mountain Lake and annoying trout wherever they could be found. His love for the outdoors led him to spend time at Valley View, the family home place in Nelson County, and the annual pilgrimage to the Pinedale, Wyoming, and the Rivera Lodge will be remembered by friends and family forever.
Arrangements are through McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville. A visitation is Monday, May 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a service at the First Baptist Church of Martinsville on Tuesday May 3, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Duke Cancer Institute (dukemedicine.org) or the Dan River Basin Association (danriver.org) are suggested.
