Lois Thomasson West

Lois Thomasson West, 89, of Collinsville, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Pittsylvania County on April 18, 1922 to John J. and Nannie Hamlett Thomasson. She graduated from Schoolfield High School in Danville and retired from the Henry County Public School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Collinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Malvin West, Jr.a son John Mark West; two sisters, Eva Dodd and Margie Scott; five brothers, James, Ralph, Randy, Norman and MelvinThomasson.

Mrs. West is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. West and husband George Collins of Martinsville; two sons, Michael F. West and wife Bonnie of Lynchburg and Walter G. (Jerry) West and wife Kirsten of Columbia, MD; two sisters, Edna LaCorte of Old Bridge, NJ and Irma Purvis of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Christopher West, Alison Sosebee, Candice Wade, Nathan West and Natalie West; three great-grandchildren, Riley Sosebee, Alden Wade and Trentin Wade

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with the Rev. Larry Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.

Burial will be private.
