Maxine S. Shartzer Harmon

Maxine Shartzer Harmon, 83, of Fieldale, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Fieldale on September 5, 1926 to Irvin and Mary Simpson Shartzer. She was a graduate of Fieldale High School and retired from Fieldcrest Mills.

A long-time member of Fieldale Baptist Church, she was a member of the Joyful Singers and was treasurer of the Steadfast Sunday school class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Junior Harmon; a sister, Mabel S. McNeely and a brother, Joseph Shartzer.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Belinda H. and Scott Wesley Brown of Paradise Valley, Arizona; a sister, Margaret S. Webster of Fieldale, two grandchildren, Jessica Feltman and husband Bryan, Hannah Brown and one great-grandchild, Isabella Feltman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Fieldale Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Harrison officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 pm prior to the funeral service at the church.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Abbey.
