Nellie Hundley Minter

Nellie Hundley Minter, 100, of Martinsville, Va, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was born August 20, 1923 to George Francis Hundley and Sallie Lou Bousman Hundley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Alvin Minter, Sr.; her son, George I. “Jackie” Minter; siblings, George Hundley, Margaret H. Donley, Frances Ferguson, Jake Hundley, Virgil Hundley, Cecil Hundley, Mildred Hundley, Hazel H. Gregory, Dora Hundley, Claude Hundley, Wayne Hundley, Erma H. Johnson, Cecelia “Tee” Hundley. She is survived by her son, Al Minter (Kathy); daughter, Lu Dodson; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Minter; brother, Walter “Taxi” Hundley; grandchildren, Brian Minter (Wendy), Scott Minter, Mark Minter, Stacy Martin, Ashley Whitlow (J.R.), Adrian Ingram; great grandchildren, Addison Martin, Elliott Minter, Jackson Whitlow, Davis Minter and Landry Minter; also many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Nellie was a lifelong member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church where she loved her church family and friends. With a successful career spanning over five decades, Nellie worked at Pannill Knitting for 25 years, followed by 20 years as manager of the Cloth Outlet, and ended with her retirement from JoAnn Fabrics. Her passion for sewing remained constant throughout. Over the years Nellie enjoyed mowing her yard, working in her garden, cooking, sitting on her porch swing, dancing, and playing Rook. She adored spending time with her family, friends and friends that became family including: Ricky and Kerry Walker and their family, B.L. and Debbie Ratcliff and their family, Carl and Ann Crenshaw and their family, Tommy Wells and his family, Susan Gauldin and family, Holly Kozelsky and daughter, Caryn Hutchens and Zachary Paitsel. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Chatham Heights Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Dr. Michael Hatfield and the Reverend Robert Bailey. A private burial will be held on Friday.
