Oscar Boyd Barker Jr.

Oscar Boyd Barker Jr., age 90, of Axton, Virginia passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021. Oscar was one of eleven children born to Oscar Barker, Sr., and Elsie Burnett Barker on January 31, 1932. In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha C. Barker, who passed away on February 20, 1998. He is survived by one sister, Viola Compton; and three sister-in laws, Nellie Barker, Eileen Overton and Irene Compton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Oscar also leaves behind two special friends who loved and helped with his care in his last years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Axton Baptist Church. He lived his entire life in the Axton community and was a farmer and a carpenter. He also loved gardening and sharing with his neighbors. He loved nature especially watching birds from his porch. He fed any animals that came into his yard. As long as he was able, he regularly attended the flea markets, buying and selling. A funeral service will be held at McKee-Stone Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
