Rebecca Lynn Woody Fitzgibbons

Lynn Woody Fitzgibbons, age 64, died Friday, February 22 at her home. She was born August 19, 1954 to John and Rebecca Woody in Henderson, NC. Lynn grew up as a preacher’s kid and spent a lot of her time moving from place to place. She graduated from Bluefield College, Averett College and later received her master’s in education from Averett College. She worked for 43 years for Henry County Schools. She couldn’t go anywhere in Martinsville or surrounding areas without seeing someone she had in school - this always brought a smile to her face. She was a football mom and loved cheering on her son at his football games at Martinsville High School, and later at Washington and Lee University. Lynn loved spending time with her family and took the utmost pride in them. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Thomas Patrick Fitzgibbons; a son, John Graham Fitzgibbons (Jessica) of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Linda Woody of Reidsville, NC; nieces Mary Taylor Setliff (Drew) of Winston-Salem, NC and Ann Hughes Braja (Misha) of Reidsville, NC; her pride and joy, grandson Graham William Fitzgibbons; great nephew and nieces, Harrison, Emmy and Caroline Setliff; and ‘adopted’ son, Christopher Eric Hall. The family would like to thank special friends, Jo and Jerri DeVault, and her “W & L Generals” football family. A memorial service for Lynn will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Starling Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend Vicki Brodie Tamer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the SPCA in Lynn’s memory. Arrangements are by Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville.
