

Virginia Chitwood Turner, 82, of Collinsville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 9, 2014, from Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born in Franklin County, May 18, 1931 to John T. Chitwood and Gracie Hodges Chitwood. Virginia was a member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served as President of United Methodist Women for over 15 years and was also an active member of the church council. She retired from Belk Department Stores after 33 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Turner and a brother, John T. Chitwood, Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Bobby Ray Turner of Houston, Texas, Lindsay Allen Turner of Bassett (Oak Level Community) and special friend Patty Vaught; two grandchildren, Chad B. Turner and wife, Toni of Collinsville and Ryan H. Turner of Bassett; two great-grandchildren, Colin E. Turner and Cole I. Turner.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the home.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Smith Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia J. Stover officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
