Donna Jean Batchelor

Donna was born on May 27, 1948 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Donald Wayne and Delores Gene (Simmons) Brown. She attended St. Johns High School, where she graduated in 1972, after she went back to earn her degree while starting a family. Donna wanted to show to her children to never give up on a dream. Donna married her love, Jack Batchelor, on July 30, 1983 at United Methodist Church in St. Johns.

While her family was her favorite job, Donna loved to keep busy. She worked for Searles Construction, Dart Bank, and various other jobs. Her favorite position was at North Western Area Credit Union as a Collection Officer. There was nothing she was not too good for. She would do anything and everything.

In her freetime, Donna loved to bake and to decorate cakes. She loved to make food and baked goods for others. It was a love language for her. When she was in the kitchen, it was almost a talent with how many dishes she would dirty for one meal. Donna loved to dance to Elvis Presley or any music, really. She loved music and would find the rhythm to dance.

And if you ever passed a garage sale sign, you can best believe that Donna would make you stop, no matter what plans you had.

Donna's grandchildren were her pride, joy, and light. She loved stealing them away for the weekend. Donna spoiled them with all the love she had in her. Her grandchildren gave her a new sense of love and life.

A visitation for Donna will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 South Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home. Concluding the services for Donna will be a committal service at North Aurelius Cemetery in Mason, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donna's honor may go to Careline Hospice Foundation, 801 Rosehill Road, Jackson MI 49202.

Donna is survived by her children, Debra Skribe, Michael Searles, and Bryan (Bonnie) Searles; grandchildren, Joshua Skriba, Jessica Skriba (Daniel Kostelecky), Angela Searles, Amanda Searles, and Nicholas Searles; many great grandchildren; siblings, Janet (Jeff) Palmer and Robert (Kandi) Brown; and brother-in-law, Don (Brenda) Batchelor.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Batchelor; great-grandson, Dakota; parents, Donald and Delores Brown; and siblings, Ronald Brown and Donald Brown.
