She graduated from Eastern High School and enjoyed a long career with the Michigan Department of Transportation. She married Robert Anderson on November 26, 1946.
Doris loved to be busy. She was known for her cooking and baking skills. Her pies, cookies, and bread were always in demand. Her homemade noodles and beef was popular among her grandchildren, her applesauce was said to have healing qualities, and her peanut butter fudge was always in demand among family and friends. She loved to sew. Piecing quilt tops filled the hours she wasn’t in the kitchen. She and her sisters always had fun playing high-stakes (penny) Tripoli.
She is survived by her children Brenda (Paul) Petrow, Johanna Andersen, Thomas Anderson, and Siobhan Duffy; her grandchildren Shannon (David) Martin, Catherine (Eric) Leung, Sarah (Erwin Arias Hervert) Howe, Christy (John) Olson, Nicole (Garrett) Contreras, and Stephanie Petrow; her great-grandchildren Jackson and Elizabeth Martin, Andrew and Mason Leung, Helena Arias-Howe, Miranda Olson, Gracie and Madeleine Contreras.
