Eugene was born in July of 1942 in Hamtramck, Michigan, to Arthur and Stella (Papuga). He received his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University before receiving his MD and MPH from the University of Michigan. He married Kathleen Severs on April 9, 1969 and they raised one daughter, Cynthia.
Eugene was a pioneer in the field of Neonatology and took great pride in caring for sick and premature babies. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Sparrow Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Lansing, Michigan. In 1992 he and his family established Dol Rae Arabians where they bred many champion Arabian horses over the years.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father Arthur, mother Stella, younger brother Daniel and his loving wife Kathleen. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia (John) Luttman and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Due to the current situation no funeral service will be held at this time. A celebration of life may be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family requests memorial donations to be made to The Sparrow Hospital Childrens Miracle Network.
